Two shot and killed in Lodi

At approximately 6:32pm on Monday October 16, 2023 the Lodi Police Department responded to a call of shots fired around the 1100 block of South Central Avenue. Officers arrived at the residence and located two gunshot victims inside. One victim (male, 36) was declared deceased at the scene. The other victim (male, 49) was transported to a local hospital, but was unable to survive his injuries.

The shooter had fled the scene before police arrival. The Lodi Police Department have reason to believe this is a targeted incident, and the general public is not at risk.

Update – October 18, 2023

Lodi Police Officers identified the suspected murderer as 41-year-old Oscar Hernandez. The LPD claim there is a “family nexus” between the shooter and two victims. Oscar Hernandez fled to Missouri, but was taken into custody by the Ste. Genevieve County Sheriff’s Office Wednesday morning, October 18th, with the help of the US Marshals. Hernandez is currently awaiting extradition to San Joaquin County.
