Lodi man shot and killed

A 39-year-old Lodi man has been charged in the October 3rd homicide of a 53-year-old Lodi man.

On October 3, 2023 at 3:52am, Lodi Police responded to a report of gunshots heard in the 00 block of South School Street. When officers arrived on the scene they located a gunshot victim, later identified as 53-year-old Felix Makiano. Life saving measures were performed on scene, and he was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Lodi Police Department Detectives were able to uncover information leading to the suspected shooter in a residence on the same 00 block of South School Street. A search warrant was obtained, and two suspects were taken into custody. LPD SWAT was needed to secure the second suspect, however. Detectives located narcotics, a firearm, and other evidence related to the homicide.

Scott Sherman, 39, was charged with First-Degree Murder of Felix Makiano with a sentence enhancement of a Personal Use of a Firearm. The Maximum sentence for the defendant if found guilty is 50 years to life in prison.
