Burglar attempts to hide in Lodi Walmart

On the evening of June 26th, a 29-year-old male burglarized a home in Lodi before fleeing to the local Walmart in an attempt to hide from authorities.

On June 26, 2021 around 8:16pm, Lodi Police officers responded to a call of a burglary in progress at a home in the 2500 block of Mayfair St. The call was from the homeowner who arrived at their residence to find a stranger inside.

The suspect fled the scene by the time officers arrived. Luckily, a description was taken from the homeowner’s security camera footage.

During the officers’ investigation of the burglary, security at the Lodi Walmart contacted the Lodi Police Department regarding a suspicious male armed with a baseball bat inside the store. Lodi Police called the suspect from outside of the store, identified the suspicious person as the burglary suspect, and detained the man at gunpoint.

The suspect has been identified as 29-year-old Dominick Franklin from Sacramento, California. He was arrested and booked into LPD jail on burglary and felony vandalism charges. As LPD identified the suspect, they discovered Mr. Franklin was on probation.
